| Carnival cruise Lines History  Carnival Cruise Lines was established with a converted transatlantic ocean liner by the American entrepreneur in 1972 by Ted Arison . His concept was of making a holiday experience once reserved for the rich accessible to the average person. Some 33 years later, Arison's dream has long been a reality, and Carnival is the largest cruise line in the world. Carnival Cruise Lines is now a branded division within Carnival Corporation & plc, a publicly traded company with Micky Arison and then Pierre Foschi as the Chairman and operates Carnival Cruise Lines, Holland America Line, Princess Cruises, Cunard Line, Costa Cruises, Yachts of Seabourn - Carnival Cruise Lines buy the first ship Empress of Canada and rename it the TSS Mardi Gras. She was Carnival’s first ship, and placed Carnival on a roller-coaster rime to success! TSS Mardi Gras runs aground on sandbar outside the Port of Miami. 1975– 1978 Carnival purchases two more ships and renamed for Carnivale and Festivale. 1982 - Carnival orders their first cruise ship, which entered service in 1982 and named the cruise ship "Tropicale". 1985/1986 - Three new Super Liners follow -- the Holiday in 1985, the Jubilee in 1986, and the Celebration in 1987. Carnival to its current position is the largest cruise line in the world, carrying more passengers than any other. 1987 – Celebration, 1990 - Fantasy, 1991 – Ecstasy, 1993 – Sensation, 1994 – Fascination, 1995 – Imagination, 1996 – Inspiration, 1996 – Destiny, 1998 – Paradise, 1998 –Elation, 1999 - Triumph, 2000 – Victory, 2001 – Spirit, 2002 - Carnival Conquest, 2002 - Carnival Legend, 2002 - Carnival Pride, 2003 - Carnival Glory, 2004 - Carnival Valor, 2004 - Carnival Miracle, 2005 - Carnival Liberty, 2007 - Carnival Freedom was entered to service by Carnival Cruise Lines  Cruise line
